2023 Mercedes-Benz G Class G400 d AMG Line Premium Plus
Key Points: 24" Brabus Monoblock Z "Platinum Edition" Alloy Wheels, Brabus Exterior Styling Package, Brabus Leather Interior.
The second-generation of the W463-era G-Class was launched in January 2018 at the North American International Auto Show, with a larger body, improved ground clearance, adaptive electric power steering and independent front suspension.
While visually similar to the first generation W463, only three parts from the previous car were carried over to the new model: the headlamp washers, the push-button door handles and the spare wheel cover bolted to the rear tailgate. Despite the increased dimensions, the weight has been reduced by about 170 kilograms over the first-generation car.
The redesign also allowed newer safety and collision avoidance equipment from the W222-era S-Class to be fitted to the G-Class for the first time. In addition, the updated interior shares its instrument cluster and infotainment system with the W177-era A-Class and W123 E-Class respectively, and also boasts more luxurious interior trim and 64-colour ambient lighting.
The G400d variant, introduced in 2020, features the turbocharged 2.9-litre ‘OM656’ diesel straight-six under the bonnet, which delivers 326hp and 516lb-ft of torque to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission.
