2025 BMW M5 Touring
Key Points: VAT Qualifying, NI Car, M Performance Carbon Fibre Kit
The 2025 BMW G99 M5 Touring marks the return of the M5 estate to the UK market, combining supercar-rivalling performance with the practicality of a large family estate. Based on the latest M5 saloon, it sits at the top of the 5 Series Touring range and is one of the most powerful production estates BMW has ever built.
Power comes from a plug-in hybrid powertrain that pairs a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine with an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed M Steptronic automatic gearbox. Together, the system produces 717bhp and 738lb-ft of torque, with power delivered to all four wheels through BMW's M xDrive system. The 18.6kWh battery also enables limited electric-only driving. Performance is remarkable for a car of this size, with 0-62mph achieved in just 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 155mph.
The chassis has been extensively upgraded to handle the additional power and weight. Standard equipment includes Adaptive M Suspension, Integral Active Steering, an Active M Differential and electronically controlled dampers, all working together to deliver impressive agility and stability.
Visually, the M5 Touring features wider wheel arches, bespoke front and rear bumpers, M-specific side skirts and a prominent rear diffuser. Illuminated kidney grilles, quad exhaust outlets and staggered alloy wheels measuring 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear further distinguish it from the standard 5 Series Touring.
Inside, the cabin combines luxury with performance-focused design. Standard features include BMW Individual Merino leather upholstery, heated electrically adjustable M sport seats, a flat-bottomed M steering wheel and illuminated interior trim. The dashboard is dominated by BMW's Curved Display, incorporating a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite navigation, and a head-up display are all fitted as standard.
Despite its performance credentials, practicality remains a key strength. The luggage compartment offers 500 litres of cargo space with the rear seats in place, while the folding 40:20:40 rear bench allows significantly greater carrying capacity when required. An electrically operated tailgate and roof rails are also included as standard.
Safety equipment is comprehensive, with adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistance, blind spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, a surround-view camera system and collision warning systems all included. The result is a high-performance estate that successfully blends everyday usability, long-distance comfort and exceptional performance into a single package.
