The 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre is the marque's first fully electric production car and represents a significant milestone in the company's transition towards an all-electric future. Positioned as a spiritual successor to the Phantom Coupé and Wraith, the Spectre combines traditional Rolls-Royce luxury and craftsmanship with a modern battery-electric powertrain. It is built on the brand's bespoke aluminium Architecture of Luxury platform, which has been adapted specifically to accommodate a large battery pack while maintaining the refinement and structural rigidity expected of a Rolls-Royce.
Power is supplied by two electric motors, one mounted on each axle, providing four-wheel drive as standard. Together they produce 577bhp and 664lb-ft of torque, delivering effortless performance with the near-silent operation that suits the character of the car. Despite weighing almost three tonnes, the Spectre accelerates from 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 155mph. A 102kWh lithium-ion battery provides an official WLTP driving range of up to 329 miles, depending on specification and wheel choice.
Measuring over 5.4 metres in length, the Spectre is one of the largest two-door cars currently on sale. Its exterior design retains familiar Rolls-Royce styling cues, including the illuminated Pantheon grille, long bonnet and fastback roofline. The car has been developed with a strong focus on aerodynamic efficiency and is the most aerodynamic Rolls-Royce ever produced. Distinctive LED lighting, flush-fitting door handles and large 23-inch alloy wheels complete the imposing appearance.
The cabin is designed around comfort, craftsmanship and personalisation. Virtually every surface is trimmed in premium leather, wood veneers or metal finishes, with an extensive range of bespoke options available through Rolls-Royce's customisation programme. The Spectre features power-operated coach doors, electrically adjustable heated front seats with memory functions, dual-zone climate control and a highly advanced air suspension system designed to deliver the brand's renowned ‘magic carpet’ ride quality.
A fully digital instrument display sits behind the steering wheel, while a central infotainment screen provides access to navigation, media and vehicle functions. Wireless smartphone connectivity, connected services and a premium Bespoke Audio sound system are all fitted as standard.
Ride comfort is enhanced by the Spectre's Planar suspension system, which combines adaptive dampers, active anti-roll technology and predictive software that uses navigation data to prepare the chassis for upcoming corners and road conditions. Four-wheel steering is also fitted as standard, improving manoeuvrability in urban environments while enhancing stability at higher speeds.
Practicality is greater than previous Rolls-Royce coupés, with a spacious four-seat cabin and a generous luggage compartment suitable for long-distance touring. The electric powertrain also contributes to refinement, eliminating engine vibration and creating an exceptionally quiet interior environment even at motorway speeds.
Standard safety and driver assistance equipment includes adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, a surround-view camera system and parking assistance features. Combined with its advanced electric drivetrain, exceptional build quality and unrivalled attention to detail, the Spectre stands as one of the most luxurious and technologically advanced grand tourers currently available.
