2018 Ducati 1299 Panigale R Final Edition
Key Points: 479 of 1299 Examples, Akrapovic Exhaust, Ultra Low Mileage - Collection Grade Example
The 1299 Panigale R Final Edition is the highly collectible ‘swan song’ for Ducati’s twin-cylinder ‘Superquadro’ lineage. The most powerful twin-cylinder bike made by Ducati at the time of release, it blends the powerful Superquadro engine from the Superleggera with a racing-focused aluminium monocoque chassis and a full titanium Akrapovič exhaust system.
It is powered by the 1,285cc Desmodromic ‘Superquadro’ L-twin, which delivers 209hp and 104lb-ft of torque to the rear wheel through a six-speed transmission. The Final Edition features new titanium valves and conrods, race-focused intake ducting and camshafts, and larger intake and exhaust valves than the standard Panigale.
The suspension consists of a fully adjustable mechanical Öhlins NIX30 front fork with a TTX36 rear monoshock, while stopping power comes from 330mm semi-floating front discs and a single 245mm rear disc, with Brembo M50 four-piston callipers and Bosch Cornering ABS.
Alongside cornering ABS, the Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) also includes Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO, Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO, Engine Brake Control (EBC), Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) for clutchless shifting, and the Ducati Data Analyser+ (DDA+) with GPS and lean angle acquisition. The systems have default settings integrated into three riding modes (Race, Sport, and Wet), which can also be personalised.
Each bike is finished in Ducati’s iconic tri-colour livery, complemented by a carbon-fibre rear mudguard, hugger and heat shield panels, as well as an individually numbered billet steering head.
